Hear from Summer Boismier about her experience becoming an anti-censorship advocate!

Summer Boismier (she/her) is the Teen Initiatives Project Manager at Brooklyn Public Library where she supports young-adult initiatives such as Books Unbanned and the Intellectual Freedom Teen Meetup (IFTM). An Oklahoma expat and former English teacher, she was District Teacher of the Year for Piedmont Public Schools in SY 2018-2019 and was recognized by the Oklahoma State Department of Education as a Rising Star award recipient in 2019. Summer received her M.Ed. in Instructional Coaching from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in 2019. She is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in Instructional Leadership & Academic Curriculum with an emphasis in English education at the University of Oklahoma. Summer's professional areas of interest include intellectual freedom, the centering of student voice, and educational equity in PK-12 public schooling.
